This programme is for adults interested in exploring the Catholic faith. Starting in September, we meet regularly to reflect on all aspects of Catholic faith, with a view to being welcomed into the Catholic Church at Easter.

Contact Christine Donovan via the Parish Office for further details, including details of our introductory evening.

See below for this year’s Journey in Faith leaflet.

Becoming Catholic is a deeply moving, life-changing journey. Our Journey in Faith (more formally known as the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults ‘RCIA’) programme is for adults interested in exploring God’s call to them. It is led by a small group of parishioners, but supported by the prayer of our whole Dockhead parish community.

We meet weekly to explore what it means to be Catholic in our world. We discuss faith, reflect on who God is in our lives, explore prayer and different ways of praying, and ponder the Trinity. We learn about the Mass and the Sacraments. Above all, we allow time for reflection together, allowing the Beloved to touch our hearts.

Our Journey in Faith is based on conversation, prayer and reflection, giving everyone the opportunity to ask questions, share experiences and grow in faith together as we seek God’s call in our lives.

Whether you have never been baptised, have been baptised in another Christian tradition, are returning to the Catholic faith, or are a Catholic who has not yet received First Communion or Confirmation, you are very welcome.

Here is what recent Journey in Faith participants have said:

  • My journey in faith came unexpectedly. I felt an incredible yearning for something more. I went along to Mass a few times and I was treated so very kindly at this parish by our wonderful parish priest. My experience with the journey in faith group has set my life on a new course. I have a level of confidence I never had before, an understanding of Christ that has made me stronger than I ever imagined. The journey in faith was one of the loveliest experiences I have ever had. I cannot recommend it enough.
  • I was baptised into the Catholic Church at Dockhead this past Easter, and I am grateful to be welcomed into this faith family. Although my faith is still developing, I am eager to continue learning and growing in my spiritual journey, deepening my relationship with God.
  • I was a “lapsed” Catholic and after getting pregnant with my son I wanted to ensure he had the Catholic upbringing that had been so special and comforting to me as a child. Doing the Journey in Faith programme was not just a beautiful spiritual revelation and  journey back to the church for me personally, but was something I was able to share with my husband and son. Having faith and being part of the Catholic faithful as a family has been healing as well as joyful. I look forward to continuing to connect in faith with the rest of my parish and wider catholic community around the world.
